Read the full description

Tabhand lets Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, OpenCode and 15 other AI agents use the Chrome you're already signed in to. Each agent opens its own background tabs, grouped under its name and muted, so Chrome never jumps in front of you and you keep working. An agent can only reach the tabs it opened, never yours. Every agent gets its own cursor you can watch, and one click pauses them all. One command sets it up: npx tabhand setup. Free, open source (MIT), and it runs entirely on your Mac.

Could you build this?

Partial A Chrome extension that opens muted background tabs per agent and groups them is vibe-codeable. Making it safe, so each agent is confined to its own tabs and cannot reach the user's sessions, needs real security and browser-internals expertise, and supporting 18 agents means maintaining many integrations.

What it would actually take: The stack is a Chrome extension using the tabs, tabGroups, and debugger or Chrome DevTools Protocol APIs, plus a local native-messaging bridge that agents connect to. The hard part is a rigorous permission and isolation model, so one agent cannot read or act on tabs it did not open, and handling the many agent clients' differing protocols. This needs security-minded browser engineering rather than just prompting.
