Description

Embeddable map widget for business websites. One script tag, no Google account, no cookies.OpenStreetMap tiles served as Protomaps PMTiles from Cloudflare R2. The whole serving layer runs on edge with no tile server. Infrastructure cost is ~€7/month regardless of traffic because R2 has no egress fees.Built it because Google Maps embeds in Europe are a GDPR headache (cookies, third-party domains, consent barriers), and they show your competitors on your own website.

Yes The service wraps open-source Protomaps/MapLibre components and serves PMTiles files directly out of Cloudflare R2 using standard edge workers and an embeddable script.

Discussion

2 comments analyzed.

Competitors mentioned: Google Maps, Other GDPR-friendly mapping solutions

Concerns raised: R2 still charges for read/write operations despite no egress fees, Hosting on US-based companies (Cloudflare, GitHub, Amazon) contradicts GDPR positioning, Missing terms of service and privacy policy, Unclear value proposition vs. traditional code integration
