Press Cmd-R while anything plays on your Mac (a YouTube video, Apple Music, a preset demo) and DOT keeps it: trimmed, filed in a library, with its key, tempo and chords. Drag clips into your DAW, or export the chords as MIDI. DOT records the Mac's own sound through macOS, so there's no BlackHole or Loopback to set up. Free to try, then $49 once. No subscription.

Could you build this?

Partial Capturing system audio on macOS and building the library, trimming, and MIDI export UI is vibe-codeable using ScreenCaptureKit. Accurate key, tempo, and chord detection from arbitrary audio is a signal-processing problem that is harder to get right than the app shell.

What it would actually take: The capture layer uses ScreenCaptureKit or Core Audio taps, written in Swift, with a Swift UI and a library database. The hard part is the music analysis: chord recognition needs chroma feature extraction and a trained or carefully tuned model, and key and tempo detection need robust onset and harmonic analysis. Getting good accuracy across genres takes DSP and music information retrieval expertise, plus test data.
