Description

I analyzed two orderings of the 64 I Ching hexagrams and found the permutation cycle decomposition between them is [52, 10, 2] with zero fixed points. Nobody has done this kind of analysis before and this cycle type has not been reported in the literature. You can verify it yourself.

Could you build this?

Yes It is a static informational website with interactive visualizations presenting mathematical cycle analysis of 64-element permutations.

Discussion

20 comments analyzed.

Concerns raised: No explanation of the rule for calculating next hexagram in the sequence, Unclear significance of the highly coupled reordering property, Historical accuracy of King Wen sequence dating to Shang dynasty, Cannot explain why King Wen arranged hexagrams this way, Presentation may be overstated for the mathematical result

Feature requests: Compare cycle decomposition to magic squares structure, Clearer explanation of the calculation rule for sequence transitions
