Read the full description

Show Luma a photo whose look you love and it works out the adjustments that take your photo there, handing them back as real sliders rather than a filter. 2.0 adds a full editor around that: tone curves, an eight-band colour mixer, split toning, black & white, masks, crop and lens fixes, retouch and burst culling. It edits inside the Photos app, never touches your original, and runs entirely on device. $14.99 once, no subscription.

Could you build this?

Partial The editor UI with sliders, curves and masks is vibe-codeable on a WebGL or canvas stack, but the look-matching step needs a robust color-science algorithm and some features, such as lens fixes, need lens-profile data.

What it would actually take: The stack would be a WebGL or WASM image pipeline with a color-matching model that maps a reference photo to slider values, likely via histogram or LUT fitting. Lens correction requires a large database of lens profiles, and masking and retouch need careful engineering. The quality of the match and non-destructive editing depend on color-science and imaging expertise.
