Description
Most notch apps just show what's playing. NotchAbove lets you control it: switch between speakers and AirPods in one click, and set each device's volume before you switch. It also puts your day in the notch: join your next call, run focus timers, take eye breaks, keep notes and to-dos, and check your Claude Code and Codex usage limits. A little companion peeks out to keep you company. Works on any Mac, even without a notch. Pay once, no subscription.

Could you build this?
No Building a custom macOS notch utility requires low-level macOS system programming, private/undocumented CoreAudio and AppKit APIs, and native Swift/Objective-C desktop expertise.
What it would actually take: The product must be written in Swift using AppKit, requiring deep knowledge of macOS window layering, `NSScreen` notch detection geometry, and CoreAudio APIs for per-device volume control and audio routing. Hard parts include maintaining smooth notch-expanding animations, managing background CPU/battery footprint, and handling undocumented quirks across different MacBook screen geometries and macOS versions.
