Description

LHT DMS is a desktop app for litigation lawyers, built by a practising barrister. It downloads every document filed in your cases from the court e-filing portals (CE-File in England & Wales; EFS and EKSS in Malaysia), numbered in filing order and dated. The portals allow this only by hand, one document at a time. It also builds paginated, bookmarked court bundles and the index in Word, and writes bundle page numbers back into your skeleton argument. Runs on your computer. No generative AI.

Could you build this?

Partial The desktop wrapper is simple, but reliably scraping and automating authenticated downloads across proprietary government court portals (CE-File, EFS) requires handling complex auth, anti-bot mechanisms, and brittle DOM structures.

What it would actually take: The app likely uses Electron or Tauri with Playwright/Puppeteer automation to simulate browser sessions inside legal court portals. The hard part is reverse-engineering proprietary portal authentication (MFA, session tokens, CSRF) and handling varied document pagination/PDF ordering algorithms without breaking when courts update their web systems. Legal IT domain knowledge and resilient automation engineering are required.
