Description

Blind people can't see graphs the way we do, but graphs are relevant in most jobs and examinations. My website turns digital graphs into interactive graphs where every bar, axis, title, etc. is audable. It analyzes exact values for pie charts, linear graphs, and bar charts. Visually impaired people can independently navigate the website and hear the visual information.

Could you build this?

Partial Building an accessible UI with Web Audio/text-to-speech is straightforward, but robustly deconstructing arbitrary bitmap charts into precise numerical data, axes, and interactive vector boundaries requires advanced CV and chart-parsing pipelines.

What it would actually take: The architecture requires a document layout analysis and chart parsing pipeline (such as Plotly's MatPlotLib reverse-parsers, ChartQA, or fine-tuned vision-language models like DePlot) to extract precise bounding boxes, axes scales, and data points from raster images. The frontend requires a custom accessible canvas/SVG layer mapping touch/cursor coordinates to spatial audio synthesis (sonification) and Web Speech API. Achieving pixel-level accuracy across arbitrary chart styles requires specialized computer vision and accessibility engineering.
