Description

Universal Molecular Digital Interface (UMDI) Research Simulator is an open-source platform for modeling high-speed molecular data storage architectures toward active computer storage. Researchers can simulate configurable READ/WRITE workloads, analyze performance and bottlenecks, reproduce the published high-speed BioSSD benchmark, and test their own configurations against the reference architecture.

Could you build this?

No This is a specialized scientific and hardware research simulation tool requiring deep academic domain knowledge in molecular digital storage and computer architecture modeling.

What it would actually take: Building a molecular storage simulator requires discrete-event simulation frameworks (similar to gem5 or OMNeT++), modeling biological/chemical latency, error rates, enzymatic synthesis, and sequencing constraints. It demands specialized knowledge in bioinformatics, molecular biology, and computer system microarchitecture.
