Description

Hi HN, I built this side project earlier this week. It executes an English auction on Solana with a reserve price of 0.1 SOL. Auction winner gets control of a Codex editor. Auction losers get refunded (minus a <$0.01 processing fee). The Codex agent operates in a sandbox and can only output HTML/JS/CSS.The project is open-source: https://github.com/neelsomani/the-daily-auction

Could you build this?

Yes An auction site integrating a standard Solana smart contract/program for bids, paired with an API endpoint that executes OpenAI Codex in an iframe sandbox, is well within vibe-coding scope.

Discussion

19 comments analyzed.

Competitors mentioned: Million Dollar Homepage (pixel selling), The Last Word (similar micro-marketplace experiment), Florin Pop's One Million project, Million Lines (text line selling)

Concerns raised: Security vulnerability - iframe wrapper could be rewritten to display fake content, Social engineering attacks possible despite sandbox protections, Low traffic/user acquisition - why would people visit repeatedly after novelty, Derivative idea - many similar 'million ___' sites already exist, Codex editor poses audience risk if it can modify displayed content

Feature requests: Show more of the cool/interesting submissions, Display more visually interesting examples instead of bland ones
