Could you build this?
No Writing a distributed media server in Rust and GStreamer that handles live multi-device stream negotiation, hardware-accelerated transcoding, tone mapping, and complex subtitle parsing demands deep systems-level media engineering.
What it would actually take: Built with Rust, GStreamer, SQLite, and custom multi-client streaming protocols (mTLS satellites). The hardest parts are managing dynamic media negotiation (direct play vs remux vs audio/video transcode), low-latency GPU pipeline orchestration (NVENC, VA-API, QuickSync), and parsing ASS/PGS subtitles without burning them in. Requires deep systems programming and multimedia pipeline expertise.
