Description

Log footage looks like grey soup in Finder, so reviewing a card means opening an editing app first. Divecut reads each clip's metadata and applies the matching Log-to-Rec.709 conversion on the GPU, so it looks right straight from the folder — 17 Log formats across ten manufacturers. Search by typing what you saw, with a model that runs on your own machine. Cull from the keyboard. It never touches your files: no transcoding, no proxies, nothing written next to your clips. Mac and iPad.

Could you build this?

No Building a real-time GPU-accelerated video metadata inspection and color-management tool supporting 17 proprietary camera Log formats requires deep video engineering and color science expertise.

What it would actually take: The architecture demands low-level native code (Metal/OpenGL/Vulkan and AVFoundation/libavformat) to decode specialized camera container formats (RAW/ProRes/XAVC) and read manufacturer-specific metadata. It requires implementing accurate 3D LUT transformations and color transform mathematics (ACES / OCIO or custom shader kernels) across diverse Log curves (Arri LogC, Sony S-Log3, Canon C-Log, etc.) without the latency of launching full NLE software.

Competitors
