Description

CodeGraph is an open-source MCP engine that gives AI coding agents deterministic intelligence about a codebase—not just text search. It traces symbols, dependencies, routes, tests, database models/lineage, and runtime behavior, then returns evidence-backed, token-bounded context. The key difference is separation of responsibilities: the AI reasons, while CodeGraph interrogates the repository and clearly surfaces FACT, UNKNOWN, or AMBIGUOUS results instead of guessing.

Could you build this?

Partial Implementing a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server is simple, but building a robust deterministic static analysis engine (AST parsing across multiple languages, dependency graphs, DB lineage) is technically challenging.

What it would actually take: Requires an MCP server protocol implementation wrapping Tree-sitter or LSP (Language Server Protocol) instances for multi-language AST parsing, combined with graph databases or symbol indexers to trace call graphs and SQL/ORM migrations. The hard part is deterministic, low-latency code-graph traversal and token-budget optimization across arbitrary codebases. Needs expertise in compiler design, ASTs, and static analysis tools.

Competitors
