Description

An unattended laptop that's still logged in is usually my opportunity to play the looping laughing Gandalf video on their machine. The other day I allegedly took it a step further by setting a cronjob to run a `say hello friend` command every ~28 minutes. This got me thinking that I should probably stop before I get fired... but also if there's an easier way to do this where I don't have to remember the cron syntax, but also give them an easy way to remove it.So I made Stay Safe – a fun script that's quick to install, quick to remove, and reminds colleagues of the importance of not letting someone else have unfettered access to their unattended machine. All the code is open source on github the link at the bottom of the page.
