This is a known problem on m1 mac (aka my my mac) so I made Fennec to automatically fix it for me. It's open source feel free to fork and remix. Fennec watches for audio failure signals on your Mac and offers a repair without needing terminal or a restart. Choose automatic repair with and it will detect the crackling and fix it for it. Apple silicon for macOS 14.2+.
