Description

Runbox recreates core container features without relying on existing runtimes or external libraries. It uses namespaces, cgroups v2, and seccomp to create an isolated process environment, with a simple shell for interaction. For future gonna work on adding an interface so external applications can be executed inside Runbox, similar to containers.Github: https://github.com/Sahilb315/runboxHappy to hear feedback or suggestions.

Could you build this?

No Writing a Linux container sandbox from scratch in C demands low-level systems programming knowledge of the Linux kernel, unshare/clone syscalls, mount namespaces, cgroups v2 hierarchy, and BPF/seccomp filter configurations.

What it would actually take: Requires native C programming interacting directly with Linux kernel interfaces (clone(2), unshare(2), pivot_root, setns). The developer must configure cgroups v2 control files (/sys/fs/cgroup) to constrain memory/CPU and construct BPF byte-code rules via libseccomp to restrict dangerous system calls. Deep expertise in Linux systems internals, kernel security primitives, and virtual filesystem isolation is strictly required.
