Description

ESP-KVM turns an ESP32-P4 board and an HDMI capture board into an IP-KVM: the screen, keyboard and mouse of another computer in your browser, from the BIOS up. Boot it from an ISO, keep a dashcam that saves the minutes before a crash, reach it from anywhere over Tailscale or WireGuard. It is one firmware image with no OS: nothing to maintain, safe to power off, and a failed update rolls itself back. Flash it from the browser, no toolchain.

Could you build this?

No This is embedded systems firmware interacting directly with hardware peripherals (HDMI video capture, USB HID gadget emulation, ESP32-P4 low-level video encoding, and embedded networking). It requires specialized low-level C/C++ development, hardware design, and real-time streaming constraints that cannot be vibe-coded.

What it would actually take: A real build requires writing low-level ESP-IDF C/C++ firmware interfacing with an HDMI receiver chip (e.g., via MIPI-CSI or DVP) and hardware H.264/JPEG encoders on the ESP32-P4. The firmware must implement USB composite device stacks (HID keyboard/mouse, Mass Storage for ISO mounting) alongside WebRTC/WebSocket streaming and Tailscale/WireGuard integration within tight micro-controller memory limits. This demands specialized embedded systems, hardware engineering, and low-latency video streaming expertise.
