Description

I’m Gopal, the guy behind QuickClip.I built this out of pure frustration. Copying items between my phone and laptop was very painful. Sending notes and links on WhatsApp. Saving random drafts I’d forget about. It was total waste of time.So I made QuickClip for myself first. A dead simple way to move text, links and images between devices instantly. No setup drama. No thinking. Fully encryptedI use it every day. Shipping it publicly now to see if anyone else has the same problem.Would honestly love to hear, how you move stuff between devices today, what’s broken or slow and what would make this actually useful for youHappy to answer anything and take suggestions. Thanks for checking it out.

Could you build this?

Partial The basic web interface and WebSocket/WebRTC sync can be quickly built, but achieving seamless cross-platform native clipboard monitoring across desktop and mobile OSs with robust end-to-end encryption is a non-trivial systems challenge.

What it would actually take: Requires native client daemons (Swift for macOS/iOS, Kotlin for Android, C#/Rust for Windows) interfacing with OS clipboard APIs, backed by a WebSocket relay server. The difficult aspects are background execution limits on mobile OSs, managing device key exchanges for true E2EE, and low-latency payload serialization for media files.

Discussion

20 comments analyzed.

Competitors mentioned: Pushbullet (Push Go), 1Password, Password managers with clipboard sync

Concerns raised: Not true end-to-end encryption despite marketing claims, Server has access to encryption keys and all user data, Images not encrypted, publicly accessible via URL enumeration, Storage enumeration vulnerability with sign-up token, Deleted files retained on server, not actually removed

Feature requests: Implement true end-to-end encryption with client-side key management, Encrypt images, not just text, Add actual file deletion instead of just removing references, Open source the code for transparency
