Could you build this?
No Building a performant native macOS code editor requires deep systems-level knowledge of text rendering, buffer data structures, and native platform APIs.
What it would actually take: The architecture requires Swift/Objective-C/Rust, utilizing native text engines (CoreText/Metal) and advanced data structures like piece tables or ropes to handle large files without latency. Hard parts include sub-millisecond keyboard latency, language server protocol (LSP) integration, asynchronous syntax tree parsing (Tree-sitter), and native macOS windowing/buffer lifecycle management.
