Description
Hi everyone,Been working on Otis, an open-source ai agent that gives you one minimal experience across local and hosted open-weight models, privacy-focused by design. On setup it recommends a local model based on the hardware Otis is running on, downloads it and runs it through llama.cpp for you. Ollama, LM Studio and Nvidia PAIR are supported too.Excited for everyone to try it and all feedback is welcome!

Could you build this?
Partial The agent wrapper, hardware detection scripts, and desktop UI can be vibe-coded, but packaging and bundling llama.cpp across diverse operating systems and CPU/GPU hardware architectures is notoriously finicky.
What it would actually take: The application typically couples an Electron/Tauri frontend with a native backend (Go, Rust, or Node) that manages sub-processes or native bindings to llama.cpp. The difficult parts include cross-platform packaging with dynamic GPU acceleration detection (Metal, CUDA, ROCm, Vulkan) and seamless model quantization management without runtime linker failures. This requires systems engineering expertise in cross-compilation and native binary distribution.

Same idea, different domain
Nobody's really built a agent / copilot tool for Agriculture yet.
