Description

Don't get me wrong, core PostgREST concept is good. But I do think that stuff like Haskell and PlSQL should not be used in production. This is why I came up with the idea to make my own API generation service. Right now it is using SqLite as a main DB and generates endpoints based based on TOML DSL with some LUA scripting.I guess in several week I will have fully working usable MVP.

Could you build this?

No Creating a database-to-API engine with a custom TOML DSL requires deep systems programming, AST parsing, query compilation, and robust security/sandboxing against SQL injection.

What it would actually take: This project requires designing a lexer/parser for the DSL (often built with Rust or Go tools like Nom or ANTLR), compiling DSL expressions safely into parameterized SQLite queries, and hosting an embedded HTTP server framework (e.g., Axum or Actix-web). The hardest problems involve generating efficient SQL plans, enforcing safe connection pooling, and implementing transaction management and fine-grained access control without introducing injection vulnerabilities.
