Description
Most "AI PDF converters" push every PDF through an LLM: slow, costly, and prone to invented text. TokDown checks first whether your PDF already has a text layer. If it does, it copies it character-exact, instantly and for free, with zero hallucinations. Only true scans go through OCR, and we always show you which path your file took. No signup, nothing stored on the server, right from your browser toolbar. Clean Markdown for Obsidian, Notion and AI workflows.

Could you build this?
Yes The core logic inspects whether a PDF contains extractable text using standard PDF parsing libraries (e.g., pdfjs, pdfplumber) and falls back to an off-the-shelf OCR API if not.
